Winter Waves Cowl Design: Bitta Mikkelborg
This is some kind of the well-known pattern Feather and Fan, but still a little different. Easy pattern to memorize, and a rather quick knit. I have knitted my cowl in Mirasol from the Norwegian yarn company Du Store Alpakka. This cowl can be knitted in many different yarn types, so you can search your yarn stash and use whatever yarn you want. Just remember to use thicker needles than the yarn requires, the cowl will be softer than. If you want a longer or shorter cowl, you may add or remove stitches. The pattern is divisible in 11. Remember to make the small rib in the beginning and end in a number of stitches divisible in 4. Add or remove stitches when you start the main pattern if necessary.
You need:
3 ball of Mirasol. 4 and 5 mm circular needles, minimum 60 cm long. Stitch marker. My cowl measures 150 cm (length), and 22 cm (width) after being blocked.

Cowl:
Using 5 mm needles: cast on 208 stitches. Join for knitting in the round, be careful not to twist. Place a stitch marker at the beginning of the round. Change to 4 mm needles. \*K2, p2, repeat from \* through round. Knit 4 rounds rib. nd in stockinet stitches, and increase 1 stitch. You now have 209 stitches in round. Now start knitting following chart. The chart is to be knitted from right to left. Repeat chart through round. Repeat the chart in rounds 1 - 8 all through the cowl.

Knit until you have reached desired width. I knitted a total of 7 chart repeats. End by knitting 1 round in stockinet stitches, while decreasing 1 stitch. You now have 208 stitches left. Knit 4 rounds like this; \*k2, p2, repeat through rounds. Bind off loosely, using 5 mm needles again. Weave in the ends. Wash the cowl carefully, following the directions for your chosen yarn. Block the cowl, and let it dry in blocked position.
