Zip It! by Jennifer Crawford
This pattern is a great way to use up scraps, as each ‘zip' repeat is only 6 rows long. You can also do just 2 colors, for a more classic look.
Yarn:
Worsted weight cotton, at least 2 colors (roughly 1/2 skein of each if doing only 2 colors) Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) needles Notions: Darning (yarn) needle Gauge: Approx. 5 stitches per inch in pattern.
Notes:
To increase / decrease, add/subtract stitches to total cast-on number 2 at a time.

k knit purl syib slip st with yarn in back syif slip st with yarn in front st stitch MC main color CC contrasting color

Pattern (2 color version):
Cast on 38 st. Rows 1 & 2: With MC, knit all stitches Row 3: With CC, \*k1, syib, repeat from \* Row 4: With CC, \*syif, k1, repeat from \* Row 5: With MC, \*syib, k1, repeat from \* Row 6: With MC, \*k1, syif, repeat from \* Rows 7 & 8: With CC, knit all stitches Row 9: With MC, \*k1, syib, repeat from \* Row 10: With MC, \*syif, k1, repeat from \* Row 11: With CC, \*syib, k1, repeat from \* Row 12: With CC, \*k1, syif, repeat from \* Repeat above 12 rows until dishcloth is desired length. End on either row 1, or row 7. Bind off knitwise on wrong side and weave in ends.
Pattern (multicolor version):
Pattern is written for 2 colors. If you would like to use more than 2, repeat rows 1 through 6 only. However, at row 1, old CC becomes new MC. Add new color at row 3, and continue in pattern until dishcloth is desired length. End on row 5; bind off in active color (row 6).
