They are knit with extra-long cuffs that can be stuffed into jacket sleeves to better keep them on busy little toddler hands. Size: approximately 2-3 years Gauge: 3.25 st/inch Materials: Lion Brand Landscapes (approx /2 skein), size 10 dpns, 2 stitch markers, scrap yarn, darning needle

Abbreviations:

PM- place marker SSK- slip, slip, knit K2tog- knit 2 together K1fb - knit into the front of the stitch, without letting stitch fall off needle, and

then knit into the back of the stitch. Let stitches fall from needle. (1 stitch increased) M1L- with left needle lift the yarn between the needles from front to back. Knit through the back. M1R - with left needle, lift the yarn between needles from back to front. Knit through the front.

Instructions for hand of mitten:

1. Loosely cast on 16 stitches 2. PM and join to knit in the round, taking care not to twist stitches 3. Knit in 1x1 ribbing (knit 1, purl 1) for 2.5 inches (or less, if you desire a shorter cuff) 4. Change to stockinette stitch and increase 4 stitches evenly, using K1fb 5. Knit 1 round even, (continuing in stockinette stitch) 6. Knit across 9 stitches, pm, M1L, k1, M1R, pm, k10 stitches (increased 2 stitches, 3 total thumb stitches) 7. Knit 1 round even 8. Knit to marker, M1L, k3, M1R, knit to end of round (increased 2 stitches, 5 total thumb stitches) 9. Knit 1 round even 10. Knit to marker, M1L, k5, M1R, knit to end of round (increased 2 stitches, 7 total thumb stitches) 11. Knit to marker, remove marker. Place 7 thumb stitches on scrap yarn, CO 1 stitch using backwards loop cast on method, remove marker, and knit to end of round 12. knit even around, until mitten measures 2.75” from beginning of stockinette portion 13. SSK, k6, K2tog, SSK, k6, k2tog 14. Knit 1 round even 15. SSK, k4, k2tog, SSK, k4, K2tog 16. Knit 1 round even 17. SSK, k2, k2tog, sk, k2, k2tog 18. Place the first 4 stitches on 1 dpn and the last 4 stitches on a second dpn 19. Using kitchener stitch, graft remaining stitches together, and continue on to the thumb.

Instructions for thumb:

1. Place 7 thumb stitches on dpns. 2. Pick up 1 stitch between first and last stitches. (if necessary to close gap, pick up two or three and decrease by that number on the first round) - 8 stitches total 3.Knit 4 rounds 4. K2tog around, until 3 stitches remain 5.Weave in all ends
