Simple Kitty Hat

A super simple kitty hat with ear flaps. Materials Needed: 1 ball of Royal Alpaca 4.5mm circ. Needle 4.5mm DPNs tapestry needle to weave in ends.
Gauge:
5 sts & 7 rows / 1 inch and join in the round being careful not to twist sts Earflap #1 K20, turn work K11, turn work K2, turn work K3, turn work K4, turn work, K5, turn work Continue knitting back and forth in this manner increasing 1 st each row until K2O. DO NOT TURN WORK. Next. K40, turn work Earflap #2 K11, turn work K2, turn work K3, turn work K4, turn work K5, turn work Continue knitting back and forth increasing 1 st each row again until K2O. DO NOT TURN WORK Next. Knit to end of round. Begin knitting in the round, work around all sts in garter st for 1 1/2"” Increase 4sts evenly across next round.( 104 sts) Knit even in stockinette stitch until hat measures 5" from top of garter st edge. Next. K 5sts and then place next 52 sts onto DPN. Join using either kitchener st or a 3-needle BO. Weave in ends, wash and block.
Optional Ties:
PU 3 sts along bottom centre of each ear flap and knit an I-cord to desired length.
