These mitts are so warm and cozy, knit with two strands of yarn! The mitts have a flap that flips back, buttons at the wrist, and you've got the benefit of a pair of fingerless mitts! Mary C. 2 sks (each 50gr/106m) Superwash Solid-Colored Wool - fingering weight (Dale of Norway's Falk #0017) 2 sks (each 50gr/155m) Superwash Self-striping Sock Yarn - fingering weight (Zitron Lifestyle color #1860) #5 US dpns Two (2) 3/4-inch buttons Stitch holder Gauge: 5st x 7rws = 1’ measured over stockinette Mitten: Holding one strand of the solid and the striped yarn together throughout, CO 40 sts. Join. K2P2 rib for 24 rnds (or desired length for cuff). On 40 sts, do 2 rnd K, 2 rnd P, 1 rnd K On next rnd, begin inc for thumb gusset by: k20, pm, ml, pm, k20. K rnd on 41 sts. Next rnd: k20, m1, k1, m1, k20. K rnd on 43 sts. (move marker each row). Next rnd: k20, m1, k3, ml, k20. K rnd on 45 sts. Next rnd: k20, m1, k5, m1, k20. K rnd on 47 sts. Next rnd: k20, ml, k7, m1, k20. K rnd on 49 sts. Next rnd: k20, m1, k9, m1, k20. K rnd on 51 sts. Slip 11 thumb sts to holder. Palm: Work 5 rnds K on 40 sts. Work 7 rnds K2P2 rib on 40 sts.
