Solstice hat by Serendipturas
The samples were knitted in Louisa Harding Orielle, which is described as DK weight, but I think is realistically a bit lighter. My tension was approximately 30 stitches and 32 rows to 10cm over stranded stocking stitch. I used less than 50g of the main colour, and less than 25g of the contrast. 8 stitches in main colour on 3mm needles. Join, and place marker for beginning of rouni K2p2 rib for 4cm. Change to 4mm needles, and kfb, k8 (repeat 5 times) 120 stitches Knit 34 rows of chart. Next row: k2tog, k18 (repeat 5 times) 114 stitches remain.

Remove marker. Knit 9 stitches. Place marker for new round beginning. Knit crown decrease chart until 6 stitches remain. Cut yarn, thread through remaining stitches and pull tight.

If you're a reasonably experienced and confident knitter, the pattern can be adapted to different head sizes by varying yarn and needles, adding more or less plain knit rows to the chart, or even changing the number of repeats.
