1 designed this shawl with the qualities of elegance and exquisite taste in mind. Leaves and diamonds are intriguing elements that add to the quality of the shawl, making it a satisfying experience to create, see and wear. The merino and silk blend of the luscious yarn gives Claudia a lovely drape to die for. Claudia is an excellent shawl for wedding events, dreamy evenings or special occasions.

Materials Needed:

Yarn: 2 skeins of Forest Hills by Cascade Yarns (51% silk, 49% merino wool; 785 yards/skein), or any lace weight or fingering yarn you deem worthy. Using larger Proceed to bind-off instructions. the need for more yarn. Needle: 3.75 mm circular, 32 inches or longer Gauge before blocking: 29 sts and 34 rows/ 4"' in stockinette stitch Gauge after blocking: 24 sts and 20 rows/ 4" in stockinette stitch Size of Shawl: 41"' length; 87"" width

What You Need To Know:

Remember to always knit 4 border stitches on either edge. Charts A, B and C are worked twice in each row, on either side of the Center Panel. Chart D is worked without the center panel. The first row is worked as follows: K4, work Chart A, work Center Panel, work Chart A, k4. This working structure is followed for the first three charts. The last chart is worked while omitting the center panel. The pattern repeat is outlined with a bold line.

You can adjust the size of the shawl by using different needle sizes or yarn weights. A laceweight or fingering yarn would work beautifully, but feel free to experiment with mohair, silk, alpaca, or merino blends. Gauge is not critical. Instructions

CO 4 sts using a provisional cast on. Knit 56 rows (garter st). Turn the strip of knitting 90° and pick up and knit 27 sts along the side of strip. Undo the provisional cast on and knit the 4 resulting live stitches (35 sts on needle). Work rows 1-42 of Chart A once. (149 sts) Work rows 1-40 of Chart B three times. (461 sts) Work rows 1-56 of Chart C once. (565 sts) On the last 5 rows of Chart C (rows 52-56), work center panel as follows: 52: Purl ll 15 sts. 53: Knit. 54: Purl. 55: Knit. 56: Purl. Work rows 1-36 of Chart D once. (637 sts) BO all stitches loosely as follows: \*K2tog, sl st back to LH needle; repeat from \* to end. Weave in ends & block passionately for best results.
