CoonieKnits Pattern: Knitted Hat with Earflaps and Crocheted Eyes - Detailed Instructions and Chart

Material:_CoonieKnits Socksln6 1 Hank in main color CoonieKnits Socksin6 Wasteyarn in Natural/unddyed and a prefered color for the pupil DPN EU 3,5/US 4 and/or Circular Needle EU 3,5/US 4 (5ocm or longer) Hook EU 3/US 2,5 (for the eyes) Stuffing for the eyes. Gauge: I never knit one! Rip section: p2, k1

Legend:

口 = knit = purl M1 = make 2 out of one = Edging stitch, either a slip or a gartherstitch The grey squares are placeholder(no stitches); die pink squares just shows the last rows of the i-cord and are only there for orientation.

Important: Before you start knitting make sure you got the messurements oft he head this hat is for. My hat will be a loose fit(hatsize 62cm) because the new owner got a bunch of red curls. . The stitchtes of the earflaps are alike. The stitches for the will be ajust with the forehead and the neck

Instruction

Earflaps 2x:

CO 5 st. Knit an i-cord with your desired length (about 22cm). Keep in working in rows with the stitches of the chart = 25 st. The chart only show the Rs. work the wS as the stitches appear. Work 14 rows as the stitches appear and put the earflap aside. Work the second one and then keep on working with the hat.

Hat:

Work the stitches of the earflap as they appear(knit the edgestitches). CO or knit on 41 st. = the neck of the hat. Work the stitches of the second earflap as they appear(knit the edgestitches) CO or knit on. 65st. = the forehead of the hat.. Close to round. Don't twist!! Work the ripsection over all stitches . The earflaps are helpful to work the right stitches. After 4-5cm change to stockinette stitch and knit until you reach the length you want. I knit 14cm in stockinette stitch.

Decreases for the top:

- Repeat over all stitches \* k5- ssk-\* - Knit 4 rounds. - Repeat over all stitches \* k4- ssk-\* - Knit 3 rounds. - Reapeat over all stitches\* k3, ssk-\* -Knit 3 rounds. - Reapeat over all stitches\* k2, ssk-\* - Knit 3 rounds. - Reapeat over all stitches\* k1, ssk-\* - Knit 2 rounds. - Reapeat over all stitches\* ssk-\* - Knit 2 rounds.

Pattern illustration

Place the stitches on two needles and work i-cords in a line.( per i-cord 3-5 st.) The length is up to you. Use the last i-cord as a knot to tight the other ones Yes, take a wild guess: crochettime! Ok, i'm not into crocheting. So, if there are any mistakes: please, let me know!!!

Eyeballs in natural/unddyed 2x.:

Chain 6, close to round and keep working in rounds. 1. Round: Chain1 , 2 single crochets in each chain. 2. Round: Chain1, \*1 single crochet in one single crochet, 2 single crochet in one single crochet in 1 single crochet\*Repeat from \* til \*, 3. Round: Chainl, \*1 single crochet in one single crochet, 2 single crochet in one single crochet in 1 single crochet\* Repeat from \* til \*. 4. til 6. Round: Chainl, 1 single crochet in each single crochet. Leave a longer tail to sew on the eyeball to the hat.

Pupils 2x in the eyecolor:

Chain 6, close to round and keep working in rounds. 1. Round: Chain1 , 2 single crochets in each chain. 2. Round: Chain1, \*1 single crochet in one single crochet, 2 single crochet in one single crochet in 1 single crochet\* Repeat from \* til \*. Leave a longer tail to sew on the pupil on the eyeball.

Eyelids 2x in the maincolor:

Chain 16 and work in rows with singles crochets. Each beginning of a row: Chain I,Slip first stitch and work singles crochets til the end oft he row. Turn and work all in all 8 rows. Leave a longer tail to sew on the lashes.

Finish:

Sew on the pupils to the eyeball and hide the tails inside. If you want to have a funny look, place the pupils in different directions. Put some stuffing in the eyeballs, hide the tails and sew on the eyeball on the hat. Sew on the eyelids above or aside the eyeballs. Make sure you tight them up to the hat.
