18 st and 24 rows in stocking stitches on 4,5 mm/Us 7 needles = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4 inch

Method
The pants are knitted from the waist down. The upper part is knitted in the round and the legs are knitted on double pointed needles. Backside is made with short rows, which are explained later on.
Upper part
Cast on 90 (94) st on circular needle 4,5 mm/ 7US. Work st st in a round. Make 3 rows if you are using a thin elastic band in the waistline, 5 rows if you are using a broad elastic band. Purl one row (hemline). Work in st st until the upper part measures 6 cm/2 inch from the hemline. Short rows: The row begins on the middle of the back piece, pm in the first st. K7, work from \*to\*. Work from \*\*\*to\*\*\* k6 (=14 st from marker) and repeat from \*to\* Work from \*\*\*\*to \*\*\*\* p6 (=14 st from marker) and repeat from \*\*to\*\* Work from \*\*\*to\*\*\* k6(21 st from marker) and repeat from \*to\* Work from \*\*\*\*to \*\*\* p6 =21 st from marker) and repeat from \*\*to\*\* \*Slip the next stitch purlwise and bring the yarn forward. Return the slipped stitch to the left needle. Return the working yarn to the back. Now you have wrapped a stitch. Keep wraps comfortably loose to easily pick up later. Turn your work around and purl to the marker.\* :\* Slip the next stitch purlwise. Bring the yarn back. Return the slipped stitch to the left needl Return the working yarn to the front. Turn your work around and knit to the marker.\*\* \*\*\* Knit across the row untilyou come to the stitch with a wrap around it.Insert your right needle into the wrap from the bottom up. Next, insert your right needle into the stitch above the Wrap knitwise. Knit the stitch and then pass the wrap over the stitch. Your completed stitch will look long and will be twice as tall as the stitch to the right of it. This will even out as you continue knitting. Purl across the row to the first stitch with a wrap around it. Insert your right needle into the back of the wrap from the bottom up. Next, insert your right needle into the stitch above the Wrap purlwise. Purl the stitch and then pass the wrap over the stitch.\*\* Work in st st until the upper part measures 16 cm/6 inch from the hemline, be sure to measure the middle of the back part.
Legs
<nit the first 45 (57) sts on double pointed needles and than cast on 11 (13) sts = 56 (60) sts Join with the first st in the row and work in st st in the round until the leg measures 39 (49) cm / 15 (19) inch. Next row: k2tog, p2tog = 28 (30) st. Next 9 rows: k1, p1. Bind off. Make second leg in the same way except that now you start with casting on 11 (13) sts and than join with the first st in the front of the pants, knit till the end of the row and join with the first st of the cast on towork in the round.
Finishing
Sew legs together in the crotch. Fold hem inwards and sew. Thread an elastic band in the waist. Weaveinends. Embroider flower or other pattern, if you prefer. Join with the first st in the row and work in st st in the round. Pm on the 6. (7.) st of the cast on and decrease by 1 st on each side of the marker in everty 7th row, 6 (7) times = 44 (46) sts. Decresion is made by knitting until two sts are left until marker, ssk, k1, k2tog. When decresion is finished, knit one row. In next row decrease 16 st evenly across = 28 (30) sts. Next 10 rows: k1, p1 Bind off. Make second leg in the same way except that now you start with casting on 11 (13) sts and than join with the first st in the front of the pants, knit till the end of the row and join with the first st of the cast on towork in the round.
Finishing
