NOTES
1. With one hank of each school color, you can make two hats, for example, blue with gold letter and yellow with blue letter. 2. Cast-on: you will cast on in pattern, some in K and some in P. I recommend either cable cast on or long-tail cast on; Nancy Wynn has a good video on YouTube: Long Tail Knit,Purl Cast On. 3. The letter is worked in intarsia and that section of the hat is knitted back and forth. A selvage stitch is cast on to each end of the first row of the letter and eliminated in the last row. That open section is sewn closed (mattress stitch) when the hat is complete. 4. Row 3 starts the intarsia letter in Color B. When you start Color B, make bobbins of color A @ 16yds and B @7yds. At the end of the letter (Color B) section, reattach Color A and use the large ball on that side of the letter going forward. Remember to twist the color strands when changing from one color to the next.
