MATERALS NEEDED:
YARN: 100 grams of fingering weight yarn Cover sock is made with Left Coast Yarns Bling, colorway Absinthe 75% superwash merino/20% nylon/5% Stellina 438 yards/100 grams http://www.etsy.com/shop/leftcoastyarns MEEDLES: Pattern is written for magic loop or 2 circular needles. Please use whatever size needles will give you the correct gauge. GAUGE: 8.5 stitches per inch, worked over stockinette
INSTRUCTIONS
Cast 63 stitches. Place 33 stitches on the front needle and 30 stitches on the back needle. Join for knitting in the round. Work front and back leg ribbing charts once. LEG Work Chart A on the front needle and Chart B on the back needle until you have completed 5 repeats of Chart B. Continue working the front leg chart, switching to plain stockinette for the back of the leg (or continuing with chart B if you prefer.) Continue to work front leg chart until 2 complete repeats have been worked, then work rows 1-14. At this point the leg should measure about 7 inches. HEEL FLAD Heel flap is worked over the 30 back leg stitches. (WS) Row 1: sl1, p across (RS) Row2: sl1, k1 across Repeat rows 1 and 2 15 more times. Repeat row 1 once more. You should be ready to work a right siderow. HEEL Row 1: K 19, ssk, turn Row 2: sl1, p 8, p2tog, turn Row 3: sl1,k 8, ssk, turn Work rows 2 and 3 until you have worked all of the side stitches, ending with row 2. You should have 10 stitches on the needle and be ready to work a right side row. GUSSET Knit across the 10 heel stitches, then pick up 16 stitches along the side of the heel flap. Resume knitting the top of the foot in pattern, beginning with row 15. Pick up 16 stitches along the heel flap. Note: At this point, I like to rearrange my stitches so I have 1/2 half of the heel stitches, one side of the picked up heel flap stitches, and 1/2 of the instep stitches on each needle (the sock will be oriented to be seen in profile.
DECREASE GUSSET
Row 1: Knit to 3 stitches from the start of the instep stitches, k2tog, k1. Knit the 33 instep stitches, k1, ssk, knit the remaining stitches. Row 2: knit until you reach the instep stitches, work the instep stitches in pattern, knit the remaining stitches. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you have decreased back to 63 stitches. If you rearranged your stitches to work the gusset decreases, rearrange them again so they are oriented as they were when you worked theleg. FOOT Continue to work the foot, keeping the instep in pattern and working plain stockinette on the bottom of the foot, until you are about 2 inches from the end of your foot. TOE Set-Up Row (33 sts on top, 30 sts on bottom): k1, ssk, knit rest of round (62 stitches remaining) Row 1: k1, ssk, k to last 3 stitches on front needle. K2tog, k1. Repeat on back needle. Row2:knit Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you have 12 stitches on the front needle and 10 stitches on the back needle. Work row 1 once more, decreasing only on the top of foot. (10 stitches remaining on each needle.) Graft the toe closed using kitchener stitch. Weave in all ends.
