Tunisian White Swan Scarf
InspiredBy theWhiteSwanScarfwritten&designedbyKt Baldassaro Original knit pattern available via FEZA Yarns for Hand Knitting, www.fezayarns.com The version of this pattern is my own interpretation, and is not in anyway endorsed or sponsored by Feza Yarns. This pattern was inspired after a visit to one of my favorite yarn stores where the owner created and displayed the knitted version. I fell in love with this scarf, and because I do not knit, and knowing that crochet wouldn't give me the effect I was looking for, I put my newbie Tunisian skills to the test. I hope you enjoy the pattern and the finished scarf as much as I do!!

Measurements:
Finished Length 96 inches (after blocking, and excluding fringe). Finished Width is approximately 4 inches (after blocking).
Materials:
2 skeins of Festival by FEZA Yarns (280 yds; 50 g each) US Size K Tunisian Crochet Hook US Size G Crochet Hook (for attaching fringe) TapeMeasure Tapestry Needle (for weaving in ends) Scissors Page 1 of 4 TunisianWhite SwanScarf Copyright October 2012 Sherry Klein Designs Gauge: 16 stitches and 6 rows equals 4 inches (after blocking). Gauge is not critically important for this pattern. Stitches and Abbreviations: Chain Stitch (ch) Loop (lp), loops (lps) Single crochet (sc) Skip (sk) Tunisian knit stitch (Tps) Tunisian extended knit stitch (Tkes) Tunisian simple stitch (Tss) Vertical Bar (vb) Yarn over (yo)
Special Stitches:
Tkes- Insert hook between front and back vertical bar and under horizontal loops of designated stitch, from front of the row to the back yarn over and draw loop through to the front, ch 1. The ch 1 of this stitch is the “elongated loop" of row 6 that will be 2.5 inches in length. This mimics the “drop stitch" in the knitted pattern.
Pattern Notes:
The foundation row is worked into the back bumps of the foundation chain to help lessen the “curling" effect. This pattern assumes that you, the Crocheter, knows the basic Tunisian Crochet Stitches. This pattern does NOT include instructions for these stitches, with the exception of the Tunisian extended knit stitch. There are many resources and tutorials available online for free or a fee that will explain and/or demonstrate the basic stitch construction. Stitch Diva Studios (www.stitchdiva.com) and Kim Guzman (available on You Tube) both have many resources available at no charge. This scarf requires steam blocking to obtain finished measurement and for gentle shaping. Blocking will stretch the stitches to give it a lacier look, and gives the Tkes elongated stitches a similar look to the knitted drop stitch.
