Barbie's summer outfits A crochet pattern using basic stitches for: Dress in 2 styles Peplum top Skirt Hat and bag To fit 12" Barbie (the latest model) Materials: approx 50g 4ply cotton (or other 4ply yarn) please note: not suitable for craft crochet thread, Crochet hook no 3.0mm and 3.5mm Tension: (Gauge) 22sts x 24 rows to 4" over dc using 3.50 hook (check your tension and use suitable size hook)
Abbreviations:
Dc: double crochet (US single crochet), tr: treble crochet, (US double crochet) ch: chain, sl st: slip stitch, inc: increase Note: These designs are worked in a continuous round so place a marker at beg of round to keep track of number of rounds. In the striped version, when changing colour, take care to begin rounds at the same point as marker. For a softer fabric for the garments, work in back loop only throughout
Plain Colour Dress
\* Using no 3.50 hook make 30 chain Work 15 rounds in dc (or length required) Shape waist: Next round: dc 7, miss 1 dc, dc14, miss 1dc, dc 7, (28dcs) Next round: dc 7, miss 1 dc, dc12, miss 1dc, dc 7,(26dcs) \*\* Works 4 rounds in dc Next Round: dc 6, 2dc in next dc, dc 12, 2dc in next dc, dc to end (28sts) Next Round: dc 7, 2dc in next dc, dc 12, 2dc in next dc, dc to end (30sts) Work 4 rounds in dc Shape armhole: Next round: dc 6, make 7 ch, miss 2dc, dc 14, make 7ch,miss 2dc, dc to end Next round: dc 5, miss next dc, 1 dc in each of 7 ch, miss next dc, dc 5, miss next dc, dc6, miss next dc, dc in each of 7 ch, miss next dc, dc to end of round. Sl st in next dc fasten off. To finish: Fasten off ends.

Dress with stripes
Work as plain colour dress setting stripes as follows: 3 rows main, 1 row contrast (see note above)
Peplum Top
Using no 3.50 hook make 40 chain Work 2 rounds in dc Next round: (miss 1dc, dc 9) repeat 4 times, (36sts) Next round: (miss 1dc, dc 8) repeat 4 times, (32sts) Next round: (miss 1dc, dc 7) repeat 4 times, (28sts) Next round (miss 1dc, dc 12), repeat 2 times, (26sts) Work 5 dc, put marker in next stitch to mark beg of round (this is to centre the front panel of top) Work as dress from \*\*
Skirt
Work as dress from \* to \*\*

Bag
Using no 3 hook make 24 chain Work 4 rounds in dc, main yarn, one round in dc contrast Work 4 rounds in dc, main yarn Next round: miss 1 dc, 2dc, make 13 chain, miss 6 dc, 2dc, miss 1 dc, 2dc make 13 chain, miss 6 dc, 2dc Motif Using no 2 hook make 3 chain, work 6 dc in 3rd ch from hook. fasten off To finish: Sew seam. Fasten off ends. Attach motif to front of bag as shown in photo.
Hat
Using no 3 hook make 3 chain, work 6 dc in 3rd ch from hook. Round 1: 2dc in each dc to end (12dcs) Round 2: (2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc) repeat to end (18dcs) Round 3: (2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc) repeat to end (24dcs) Rounds 4 to 9: dc all around Round 10: work 2dc in each dc to end Round 11: (3ch, miss next dc, sl st in next dc) rep to end Make motif as bag To finish: Fasten off ends. Sew motif on hat
