Repeat for second st. There are now two sts on the right needle. Lift first st over last st and off the needle. One st is now bound off. Repeat across each shoulder. Return unworked backsts to holder. (Maketwo) Using MC cast on 69 (73, 77) sts. Work Ruffle pattern once. 34 (36, 38) sts. Work in stockinette, increasing 1 st at each edge every fourth row 6 (7, 9) times. Work even on 46 (50, 56) sts until sleeve measures 5 (6, 7)" or desired length. Bind off. Sew sleeve seam. Sew sleeve into armhole. COLLAR Using CC cast on 109 (113, 109) sts. Work Ruffle pattern once. (54 (56, 54) sts. Leave sts on needle. Cut yarn. Using CC pick up and knit 16 sts from WS of neck edge from left front to shoulder, knit across 22 (24, 22) back neck sts from holder, pick up and knit 16 sts from WS of neck edge on right front. 54 (56, 54) sts. With WS of collar ruffle next to RS of sweater neck edge hold needles together ready to begin a RS row; work a three needle bind off as above. Cut yarn. Weave in ends. Block sweater. Steam ruffles to look gathered.
Zipper
If zipper is too long, unzip it and cut it to the right length. Use fabric or tiny knit square to completely cover the top 12" of teeth to keep the edge soft and pretty and to prevent the zipper pull from coming off the top. Pin zipper in position before sewing it in. Sew zipper to fronts with bottom of zipper above the ruffle and the top edge of zipper even with neckline.
