
Struttin' in Seersucker
Version 1 - Toe-Up, Gusset/Heel Flap Construction By: Sarah Bordelon (SarahBess on Rav) I'm a Southern girl, and one of the coolest things about Southern men is their ability to wear a seersucker suit. Summertime in New Orleans can be pretty hot, and seersucker is a staple of our wardrobes down here. In my family, we all have some to try and keep cool, and fashionable, in theheatandhumidity!
Sizes
Small (Medium, Large) will fit an approximately 8"(9", 10") foot
Abbreviations
K - Knit p-Purl m1 - Make one increase m1p - Make one increase purlwise SI - Slip as if to purl K2tog - Knit two stitches together ssk - slip, slip, knit p2tog - purl two stitches together st(s) - Stitch(es)
Chart

Gauge
8.5 sts & 12 rows/inch in stockinette

Toe
Cast 0n 18 (22, 26) stitches. Increase Round - Instep - K1, m1, K to last st., m1, K1. Repeat for sole. Repeat Increase round until 34 (38, 42) stitches. Work one round even, followed by an increase round until 62 (70, 78) stitches.

Final Toe Round - Work as increase round across instep, then work sole stitches even. You will have 64 (72, 80) stitches - 33 (37, 41) instep stitches and 31(35, 39) sole stitches.
Foot
Instep - Work Chart 8 (9, 10) times across plus Stitch 1 of the chart. Sole - Knit all stitches Continue foot until 2.75 (3, 3.25)" less than desired length.
Gusset
\*Continue working instep in pattern. Increase round - Work instep in pattern as established. Sole - K1, m1, knit to one stitch before end, m1, K1. Work one round even. (Keeping instep in pattern, knit all sole stitches) Repeat last 2 rounds until there are 51 (57, 63) sole stitches.
Heel Turn
Row 1 - K 34 (38, 42) m1, k1, turn. Row 2 -Sl1, p18 (20, 22), m1p, p1, turn. Row 3 - Sl1, K17 (19, 21), m1, k1, turn. Row 4 - Sl1, p two less sts than last p row, m1p, p1, turn. Row 5 - Sl1, K two less sts than last K row, m1, K1, turn. Repeat last two rows 3 (4, 5) times, then row 4 one more time. There will be 63 (71, 79) sole stitches.
Heel Flap
Row 1 - Sl1, K to 17 (19, 21) sts before end of sole, ssk, turn. Row 2 - Sl1, p 29 (33, 37), p2tog, turn. Row 3 - Sl1, [k1, sl1] 14 (16, 18) times, K1, ssk, turn. Row 4 - Sl1, p 29 (33, 37), p2tog, turn. Repeat last 2 rows until all sole stitches have been worked and 31 (35, 39) stitches remain, turn. Last Heel Flap Row - Sl1, (K1, sl1) across until you reach the instep stitches. PM. This is your newbeg/end of round.
Leg
Continue working pattern across instep as established and carrying it around the leg. Work chart 16 (18, 20) times around. Repeat Chart a minimum of 6 times (48 rounds) ending with row 2 or 6.
Cuff
Work 16 rounds of K1, p1 ribbing. Use Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy bind off. Weave in ends and repeat entire pattern for second sock.
