Cables For My Sparkie Beanie and Slouchy Hat By Michelle Moyle

I wanted to make a hat for my husband, he's an electrician and works outside a lot, we live in the UK so he usually needs to wear a hat. 1 wanted to make something a bit nicer than the plain black thermal Ones he wears for work. I have designed this hat with cables along the bottom and right and left twists that look like wires zigzagging up the hat, ideal for an electrician! I have designed a beanie and also a slouchy version so he has a choice (and I can pinch one too!). The design is unisex and should fit most heads. The finished circumference is 52cm and fits a 56cm head circumference. This hat is based around mock cables created by making right and left twists. These area really easy to do and much quicker than normal cables. Here is a tutorial on left twists and another on right twists... http://newstitchaday.com/left-twist-stitch/ http://newstitchaday.com/how-to-knit-the-right-twist-stitch/ Yarn: Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Aran 9O% wool and 10% angora (2 x 50g balls) colour 16 maroon 116m for the beanie, 15Om for the slouchy version Needles: 5mm/US8 circular/dpn's Gauge: 10cm sq = 24rows x 18sts Size: Medium (52cm finished circumference)
