Granny Gertie's Flower
pattern for crochet by Joanne Scrace A beautiful flower motif with six well-defined separate lacy petals. It is worked without rejoining the yarn, in just 5 rounds. This pattern is a modern take on a piece of vintage crochet from my Great Grandmother's worke Difficulty Easy Materials Small amount of yarn, any weight. Hook that will produce a tight finish.
Tension
Not critical. Measures 12cm across when worked in double knit yarn with 3.5mm hook. Abbreviations (UK terminology) Ch - Chain Ch-sp - Chain space Rnd - Round Sl st - Slip stitch T-ch - turning chain Tr - Treble crochet
Special Stitches
Dcch - Double crochet around chains. Insert hook under 3ch-sp on round 2, pull yarn through and complete double crochet tightly gathering chains from all rounds.

Pattern Rnd 1: Working into a magic loop, ch 3, 3 tr, ch1, [4 tr , ch 1] 5 times, sl st into top of t-ch to join. Do not turn. Rnd 2: Sl st into each of next 3 tr and into 1ch-sp, (ch 3, 2 tr, ch 1, 3 tr) into 1ch-sp, ch 3, [miss 4 tr, (3 tr, ch 1, 3 tr) into 1ch-sp, ch 3] 5 times, sl st into top of t-ch to join. Do not turn. Rnd 3: Sl st into each of next 2 tr and into 1ch-sp, (ch 3, 2 tr, ch 1, 3 tr) into 1ch-sp, ch 1, [miss (3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr), (3tr, 1ch, 3tr) into 1ch-sp, ch 1] 5 times, sl st into top of t-ch to join. Do not turn. Rnd 4: Sl st into each of next 2 tr and into 1ch-sp, (ch 3, 2 tr, ch 1, 3 tr ) into 1ch-sp, ch 6, [miss (3 tr, ch 1, 3 tr), (3 tr, ch 1, 3 tr) into 1ch-sp, ch 6] 5 times, sl st into top of t-ch to join. Do not turn. Finishing Break off yarn and weave in ends. Block lightly.
