Segmented Charts consist of the right (beginning) segment; repeat, ending (left) segment. Chart are worked 4 times per round for the square version; twice per row for the double-down triangle.

NOTE: There are separate charts for rows 170 through 190, inclusive, depending on whether you are knitting in the round or flat knitting.

Square Version:

Cast on $=8$ . (k1, p1) x 4 Work charts 4 times per round with 1 purled stitch between charts repeats. Yarnovers will normally be knit, but on the edges of each chart, purl the yarnovers (where they have a reverse stocking stitch background)

Double Down Triangle

Cast on 7:Row $1=\mathrm{k}2$ , k3, k2. Maintain the outer two stitches on either edge in garter stitch. Purl yarnovers. Charts are worked twice per row with a purl stitch between repeats.

Fiddlehead Edge:

For both versions the return row is purled until 3 stitches remain before "live" stitches of the shawl body. then YO, p2tog, purl last stitch together with next live stitch of shawl body.

Square Version:

Knit 4 stitchs of the main shawl before casting on edge. Cast on using waste yarn: 16 stitches. Work Edge rows 1 through 16 until 4 stitches from corner. Work two repeats attaching only every other return row. Repeat around shawl. Graft last row of edge to first row of the edge.

Double down version:

Cast on 16 stitches. Work a return row attaching to shawl body at inner edge. Work rows 1 through 16 of edge until 4 stitches from point. Work two repeats attaching only every other return row. Work as charted along remaining side and bind off after last return row.
