Materials:

\* Red Heart Super Saver, 100% acrylic, worsted weight yarn: About % skein each of two colors: #0387 Soft Navy and #0319 Cherry Red (scarf on left, official 2012 colors) and #0319 Cherry Red and #0311 White (scarf on right) are shown above. \*US size 10 % (6.5 mm) knitting needles.

Notes:

\* I recommend use of the knit-on cast on method for this scarf. If you use the long-tail cast on, be sure to stretch it seriously when you finish. You want a nice edge that is not too far off in width and appearance from the edge obtained with a traditional bind-off. 1 do not recommend use of the backward-loop or single cast on methods for this scarf. It would definitely look quite different from the bind off edge and have lots more stretch, resulting in a scarf with one end that is much wider than the other. \* Color changes can be done on any row and the scarf is still nicely reversible.

Gauge:

Make a swatch - Using size US 10% needles and either color, C0 20 stitches and work 30 rows in broken garter stitch: K4, (p4, k4) twice. Check gauge, unblocked:

14 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches.

Adjust needle size to achieve gauge, if it's important to you. Your goal is a fabric with desirable thickness and drape. Remember, this is a scarf and gauge isn't crucial to how the garment fits.
