As Seen at Panera Hat

I knit with a couple of friends every Tuesday at a local Panera. One Tuesday morning, we saw someone wearing this commercially made hat and fell in love with the style. So being the intrepid knitters we are, my friend challenged me to work up a pattern. This is what I came up with. We did it as a KAL just for fun. I hope you like this pattern as much as we did!

Materials:

Worsted Weight yarn, shown in Cascade 220, color 8950 and Lion Brand Wool-Ease white and something blue. Pattern uses less than 1 skein. Size 7 or 8 circular needles (or size needed to obtain gauge) Pattern is written for magic loop so a 40" needle is recommended, but you can also do this on 16" or 4 double-points if that floats your boat. Stitch marker Darning needle Size: Women's Medium (19-21" Circumference) Gauge: 20 stitches and 20 rows = 4" in stockinette

Abbreviations:

Sl1: slip one stitch purl-wise (with yarn held in back) K2tog: Knit two stitches together Notes: This is meant to be a slouchy hat, so it might be a bit deeper. Due to the nature of stitches used, the hat will pull in vertically. Make sure to measure length with fabric slightly stretched.

Directions:

Using long-tail method, cast on 96 stitches, join to work in the round being careful not to twist.

Ribbing:

Work K1, P2 rib for 10 rounds.
