Tolkien Our Elfin Whimsy Scarf is first in our Woodland Series. It is functional, as well as fun! It is a perfect pattern to utilize leftover skeins of yarn or to do a little stashbusting. Our example is created by using the remnants of 2 skeins of sock yarn; one solid and one variegated. The combination makes a visually appealing striped pattern. You can do this pattern in a solid or you can customize the stripes anyway you choose - have fun and make it your own! You can use any yarn, just use a needle size suitable for your yarn. The Elfin Whimsy Scarf is made with garter stitch and is easy to make. It knits up quickly and is ideal as a travel project or for simple knitting in front of the TV. We've added the order in which we placed our stripes if you would like to follow our placement - but the choice is totally yours and this pieces is fully customizable - you can choose to stop at any time or keep knitting until you run out of yarn! Directions: We've included a simple chart, but the pattern is quickly memorized - Please note - the increasing only occurs on one end of your knitting (this will become the 'pointy' end after just a few rows.) Cast on 8 stitches.

The only stitches you need to pay attention to are the ones OUTSIDE the repeat - all other stitches are knitted on both the right side and the wrong side. The stitches in the repeat are all knitted - ignore the count of the stitches in the 'repeat' section - please just work as many stitches as are on yourneedles!
