FLEUR ARM WARMERS
These elegant arm warmers are the perfect project for using up that odd ball of yarn. Subtly textured but very simple, they provide endless opportunities to showcase different colour combinations and special buttons. Instructions are written for double pointed needles but could be easily adapted for magic loop.

Pattern Notes:
Yarn choice is important. The stitch pattern appears best when a fairly light or bright coloured yarn is used. It should also be a fairly plump yarn, not tightly spun. Markers are used to separate the regularly decreasing un-patterned section from the rest of the arm warmer. This area is where the buttons will be sewn on when finished (see pictures). A different coloured marker placed at the beginning of rounds may also be helpful if you do not wish to have the beginning and end of rounds fall on separate needles as written. Slip markers as you come to them unless otherwise stated. The beginning of the round will lie in the centre of the un-patterned section. Arm warmers are worked in sections of 10 rounds. 2 stitches are decreased on the first round of every other section. The area between the markers is knit plain on all other rounds unless otherwise stated. 6: Knit to marker, k2, p1, \*k3, p1, rep from \* to two sts before next marker, k2, knit to end. 7-10: Knit to end. Next section: 1: k3, p1, \*k3, p1, rep from \* to next marker, k4. 2-5: Knit to end. 6: Knit to marker, k2, p1, \*k3, p1, rep from \* to two sts before next marker, k2, knit to end. 7-10: Knit to end. Continue to work in sections as set, decreasing by 1 st before first marker and after second marker on next round and every following 20th round (the first round of every other section) until 3 sts remain between markers. Work rounds 2-10 in pattern. Removing markers as you come to them, work the next round as follows: k1, p1, \*k3, p1, rep from \* to last 2 sts, k2. Knit 4 rounds. Next round: \*k1, p1, rep from \* to end. Repeat last round 5 more times Bind off in rib.
Finishing:
Weave in ends. Soak in lukewarm water for 20 minutes, then squeeze out excess water and lay flat to dry. Sew seven buttons up the centre of the stockinette area of each armwarmer, as shown in picture.
