A little about SuperScarves: SuperScarves is part of the Bronze Award Project by Girl Scout Junior Helen Montgomery (age 9). Helen has pledged to create scarves, cowls, hats, or mitten pairs...1 per month for the calendar year to be donated to Christmas House here in Snohomish County, Washington ...and we encourage you to help her! Details can be found at www.SuperScarves.Blogspot.com If you can't contribute to Helen's project, please find someone locally who could use a little warming up and tell us all about it! Materials: 1 skein of worsted weight yarn approximately 130 yards. Size 8 needles in 16" circs and DPN's, stitch marker, and a crochet hook or darning needle for weaving in ends. Instructions: Using long-tail method, cast on 90 stitches. Place marker and join to knit in the round. \*Knit 5, Purl 5\* repeat to end of row. nue knitting in the manner until hat measures 8" from cast-on edg Decrease section: 1) \*K3, K2tog, P3, P2tog\* repeat to end of round 2) \*K4, P4\* repeat to end of round 3) \*K2, K2tog, P2, P2tog\* repeat to end of round 4) \*K3, P3\* repeat to end of round 5) \*K1, K2tog, P1, P2tog\* repeat to end of round 6 \*K2, P2\* repeat to end of round 7 \*K2tog, P2tog\* repeat to end of round Break yarn, leaving an 8 to 10" tail. Run tail through live stitches. Cinch tightly and weave in ends. Give it away to keep somebody warm!
