Handmade Shawl Pattern 'Lailai' for Scarf or Cowl with Adjustable Width and Yarn Type, Designed in Finland, Spring 2009

Pattern illustration

I created this shawl for my Swap pattern Lailai in Finland in Spring 2009. One of her favorite colors is pink. To test the pattern I used another type of yarn, to see how the design changed depending on the yarn and the length of the scarf. The finished size of the pink one is $22\times88~{\mathsf{c m}}$ ,whilethe grey-purplish one is $27\times74\,{\mathsf{c m}}$

The last repeat ends with row 17. Knit 4 rows before closing up the work. Weave in all ends. You might choose to wash it and pin it or you can just leave it more bulky and weavy. For the pink scarf I made 13 repetitions and for the second one 8 repetitions of the lace pattern.

You can also choose to add buttons to the scarf by transforming it in a cowl: you will use lace pattern as buttonholes. (Thank you Azzuka - http://azzuknits.blogspot.com for your amazing suggestion $\circledcirc$ 一
