J / 6.0 mm Hook H/ 5.0 mm Hook 2 Different Colors of Worsted Weight Yarn I used Colour A: Red Heart Super Saver in Black Colour B:an unknown brand blue colour I had in my stash. Stitches used: DC, FPDC, BPDC, 'Magic Loop' Beginning CH 3 of each row doesn't count toward the stitch count

Magic Loop Rnd 1. CH 3, 12 DC into magic loop, pullop closed, join with SI St to top of CH. (alternatively, if you cannot do magic loop, CH 4 and join to first CH to form loop and then CH 3 and $12\,\mathrm{DC}$ in the ring, Join with SI St to beginning CH) (12 stitches) Rnd 2. CH 3, 2 FPDC into ea DC around, join with S1 St to top of CH. (24 stitches) Rnd 3. CH 3, \*FPDC in next 2 FPDC, DC in spc before next FPDC from previous row.\* Repeat from \* to\* around to last 2 FPDC. FPDC in last 2 FPDC, DC in spc after last FPDC. Join with SI St to top of CH. (36 stitches) Rnd 4. CH 3, \*FPDC in next 2 FPDC, 2 DC in DC from previous row.\* Repeat from \* to\* around. Join with S1 St to CH. (48 stitches) Rnd 5. CH 3, \*FPDC in next FPDC, DC in spc between this FPDC and next FPDC, FPDC in next FPDC, DC in next 2 DC from previous row.\* Repeat from \* to\* around. Join with Sl St to CH. (60 stitches) Increases Completed, continue in even rows: Rnd 6. CH 3, \*FPDC in next FPDC, FPDC in DC between the FPDCs, FPDC in next FPDC, DC in next 2 DC.\* Repeat from \* to\* around. CH 3, FPDC in ea FPDC and DC in each DC around. Join with S1 St to CH.(60 stitches) Fasten off Colour A leaving Colour B attached: Rnd 17. and Rnd 18. CH 3, FPDC in each FPDC, DC in each DC around. Join with S1 St to CH. (60 stitches) Ribbing: Change to smaller hook $\left(\mathrm{H}/5.00\ \mathrm{mm}\right)$ Rnd. i9. CH 2, Alternate FPDC and BPDC around regardless of the stitch in the previous Rnd. Join with S1 St to CH. Rnd. 20 - Rnd. 23. CH2 FPDC in each FPDC and BPDP in each BPDC around, join with S1 St to CH. Fasten off varn. Weave in all loose ends. If a longer hat is desired, continue in even rows same as rnds 17 and 18 until approx 4 cm shorter than hat is needed to be. Hat is designed to be worn 'beanie' style straight down over ears, but if made longer the ribbing can be turned up for more of a toque style look as well.
