Lollipop

A simple yet stylish hat for the whole family. Size: baby (toddler, child, medium adult, large adult). To fit head circumference of approx.15% -17% $(16\%-18\%$ , 18-20, 20-22, 22-24) inches [39.5 - 43 (42 - 47, 45.5 - 51, 51 - 56, 56 - 61) cm]. Yarn: Plassard $\bf{\Omega}^{\prime}{\bf100\%}$ Alpaga des Andes ( $100\%$ alpaca; ${180~\mathsf{m}}$ (196 yards) per 50 g ball). You will need 5 different colors, 1 skein each. A good subtitution yarn would be DROPS Alpaca $100\%$ alpaca; ${180~\mathsf{m}}$ (196 yards) per 50 g ball). The following colors have been used in the photographed samples:

Hook : Size E/4 (3.5 mm). Gauge: 27 sc blo and 26 rounds $=$ 4 inches $(10\,\mathsf{c m})$ Notes: All sts are worked through the back loop only (blo). Once you begin the body of the hat, the pattern is worked in the round without turning.

Instructions
Brim With MC, ch 9. Row 1: Sc in $2^{\mathsf{n d}}$ ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. -8 sts Row 2: Ch 1, sc blo across, turn. Repeat row 2 87 (89, 91, 95, 99) more times [you have 44 (45, 46, 48, 50) ridges]. Fold in half, holding foundation edge and last row together, ch 1, slst across working through both layers at the same time. Do not fasten off.
Body
Start working in rounds: Rnd 1: Turn inside out (so that "seam" is on the inside), ch 1, sc 104 (112, 120, 136, 152) sts evenly around [approx. 5 (5, 5, 5 %, 6)sts for 2 ridges ), join with a sl st in ch-1 at beginning of rnd. - 104 (112, 120, 136, 152) sts Note: If you have only approximately the right numberof sts, cheat and correct during the next round. Rnd 2: With A, ch 1, sc blo around, join with sl st to ch-1 at beginning of rnd. Rnd 3: Repeat rnd 2 with color B. Rnd 4: Repeat rnd 2 with color C. Rnd 5: Repeat rnd 2 with color D. Rnd 6: Repeat rnd 2 with color MC. Repeat rnds 2 to 6 three (four, five, six, seven) more times, piece measures about 4 % (5 %, 6, 6 %, 7 Y) inches including brim.

Shape crown:
Rnd 1: With A, ch 1, \* sc 6, sc2tog; repeat from \* around,join with sl st to ch-1 at beginning of rnd. - 91 (98, 105, 119, 133) sts Rnd 2: With B, ch 1, sc around, join with sl st to ch-1 at beginning of rnd. Rnd 3: With C, ch1, \* sc5, sc2tog; repeat from \* around, join with sl st to ch-1 at beginning of rnd. - 78 (84, 90, 102, 114) sts Rnd 4: With D, ch 1, sc around, join with sl st to ch-1 at beginning of rnd. Rnd 5: With MC, ch 1, \* sc 4, sc2tog; repeat from \* around, join with sl st to ch-1 at beginning of rnd. - 65 (70, 75, 85, 95) sts Rnd 6: With A, ch 1, sc around, join with sl st to ch-1 at beginning of rnd. Rnd 13: With C, ch 1, sc2tog around, join with sl st to ch-1 at beginning of rnd. Fasten offC.-13 (14, 15, 17, 19) sts Rnd 14: With D, sc3tog around 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) times, sc 1 (sc2tog,-- , sc2tog, sc 1). Leaving a tail of approx. 8 inches, fasten off. Thread tail of color D on tapestry needle and gather rest of crown together from the inside, pull tight and knot.
Finishing
Weave in all ends, wash and block according to yarn label.
