Small Shawl
by: Melissa Friedlund Gauge: 5.5 stitches per inch before blocking Yarn: Munchkin Knitworks Prismatic Sock & Shawl 462yds per100g Needle: I recommend a circular needle with at least 40" in length. Use the size needed to obtain desired gauge. Note about shawl size: The shawl I knit using this pattern is less than 3ft on the long edges of the triangle. I did not block it aggressively, so it could be stretched a little bit more. If a

ificantly larger shawl is desired, I would recommend 2 skeins or larger needle
Pattern:
Using long-tail cast on, CO 6. Row 1: (K1, yo) 5 times, K1 (11sts) Row 2 and every WS row: Sll purlwise wyif, purl across. Row 3: Sl1 knitwise wyib, K1, yo, K1, PM, yo, (k2, yo, K1, PM, yo) 2 times, K2. (17sts) Row 5: Sl1 knitwise wyib, \*knit till 1 st before marker, yo, K1, Sl marker, yo repeat from \* 2 more times, knit to end of row. Repeat Row 5 on every RS row (increasing by 6sts each time) until halfway through yarn (or until the desired placement of curved points). The placement of increases then changes.
For second half of shawl with curved points.
The “M1" in this section can be whatever increase you prefer. Row A: Sl1 knitwise wyib, M1, knit till 3 st before marker, k2tog, yo, K1, Sl marker, yo, \*knit till 1 st before next marker, yo, k1, Sl marker, yo, repeat from \* one time, SSK, knit till 1 st before end, M1, K1. Row B and every WS row: Sl1 purlwise wyif, purl across. Repeat Row A till ready to start the edge treatment. Edging: This is where things are flexible. I didn't take detailed notes about what I did, and I doubt it was the best way to knit the edge anyway. So, it's up to you how you'd like to continue. I used up my rainbow yarn and then joined a skein of black for the edge. Here I did one row of purling on the RS and then started a 1x1 ribbing pattern. I kept the 1", middle and last increases using kfb. I think I had to fudge where the increases were to keep the ribbing in the right pattern. A seed stitch border would probably work too. After a few rows and at the end of a RS row I turned the shawl and started to pick up & knit sts (loosely) along the selvedge edge. When I came to the opposite point, I began knitting in the round. I did yarn over increases every round at the points, knit 1x1 across the long edge and a seed stitch border across the top. I bound off knitwise on the 4th time around.
