Felted Nursing Pads

Supplies Needed:
small amount of “0-wool” 10o% organic merino wool (or any other 100% soft wool) (you should be able to get quite a few pairs knit up from one skein:) size 5 DPN's (Double Pointed Needles) size 5 - 12 inch circular needle (optional..。 but there will be a LoT of stitches on the DPN's bu the time you are done) stitch markers (I used 3 on my DPN's, making sure 1 was different than the others to mark the 1st needle, and then added 3 more markers when I switched to the circular needle, 1 marker being different to mark the beginning of round) · tapestru needle for hiding ends
Directions:
Using 1 DPN, cast on 1 stitch. Using another DPN, \* K1,Pi,K1 in same stitch。 Turn work. Purl these 3 stitches。 Turn work. KFB (Knit in the “front" and “back) of all stitches。 Turn work. Purl these 6 stitches。 Turn work. KFB of all stitches。 Turn work. Divide these 12 stitches on 3 DPN's and knit one round。 (I place a stitch marker after the 2nd stitch on each needle) KFB (of 1 stitch), K1 ¥ around Knit all stitches REPEAT THESE LAST 2 ROWS ONCE (this is the only time you·ll double up on the 2 rows!) \* KFB, K2 around Knit all stitches CONTINUE IN THIS MANNER, until desired size, increasing 1 knit stitch after each KFB..。 for example, the next 2 rounds will be ¥ KFB, K3 ¥ around and then knit all stitches around. Switch to circular needle, if desired, when there are 20 or so stitches on each needle。 I finished when I reached: \*KFB, K11" around and instead of knitting the last round, I ¥ K1, P1 ¥ around to help it from curling under。 Hide end and close up little hole in center! Knit a 2nd pad and then get readu to FELT them! I hand felted mine because it was super fast and easu。 In a medium size bowl, I added hot water and a drop of dishsoap (to open fibers). I set the timer for 5 minutes and got sauishing! I swished, I squeezed, I rubbed, I pushed..。 I did whatever I could to make it felt up! Mu finished knit product was a little over 6 inches across and when I was done felting it was 5.5 inches。 This was a great size for me, so I didn·t felt more, but you could, OR you could knit them a bit smaller. Lanolize your nursing pads to make them even more waterproof, softer and to help w/ cracking and soreness! Roll in towel and air dru! wool products do not need to be washed often, so make sure to make a few pairs and air out wet pads in between use! sed you at all..。 email questions to: theeastside@hotmail.com
