Materials:

Hooksize I/9 16 ounces of worsted weight yarn. This may be more than you need. I used Caron One Pound in Soft Pink and had about 1/3 left when I was done. Small amount of contrasting color for flower petals 4 yards of 12 inch width ribbon in dark pink (or any color you choose). This can change depending on the finished size of your blanket. If you make it larger than this one, you will need more ribbon. Yarn needle

Finished size:

About 34 inches square (without edging), 36 inches square with edging

Stitches used:

Single crochet Double crochet V-stitch (double crochet, chain one, double crochet) Picot stitch (chain two, slip stitch in first chain) Slip stitch I made this blanket once, and I am writing this pattern from memory. If you have any problems or questions, please let me know. Gauge in the pattern is not important. If you would like a larger blanket, the beginning chain can be lengthened in multiples of 12 (108, 120, 132,etc.).

Instructions

Chain 96. \*\*Skip first two stitches. \*Double crochet, single crochet in next stitch. Skip next stitch.\* Repeat from \* until you reach the last stitch. Single crochet in the last stitch. (You will always do the dc/sc sequence in the sc of the previous row) Repeat from \*\* until blanket measures 34" square, or the size that you want. At the end of your last row, chain 1. Turn, if needed, to be on the right side. Single crochet in every stitch around bottom and sides of blanket, making three single crochet stitches at every corner (this is only necessary for the first row of single crochet to keep the corners from buckling). Join with a slip stitch to first single crochet. Single crochet around the blanket three more times, joining with the first stitch each time. At the end of this, you should have four rows of single crochet. You will now crochet one more round of single crochet. However, when you reach the corners, skip that stitch and chain two. This willform a little corner. Join with slip stitch to first single crochet. V-Stitching Skip one stitch, V-stitch in the next. \*Skip two stitches, V-stitch in the next\* Repeat from \* to \* until you reach the corner. in 2 space, V-stitch, chain 2, V-stitch. Then, resume regular V-stitchin For your final V-stitch, double crochet once, chain one, then connect to third chain of beginning chain 3 with a slip stitch. You will now do another round of V-stitching. Chain 4, then double crochet in the next stitch. This will count as your first stitch. V-stitch in every V-stitch all the way around. When you reach the corners, do a single V-stitch in that spot. End the round with a slip stitch in the third chain of the Chain 4 you started with. Picot Edging Slip stitch to the chain 1 space of the first V-stitch. Chain three. Slip stitch into first chain (third from hook). Slip stitch in same space. Single crochet in space between V-stitches. Continue all the way around. Join with a slip stitch. Fasten off.

With main color, chain 4. Join to create a ring. Single crochet 5 times into ring. Join with a slip stitch to first single crochet. Fasten off. (To close ring, using a yarn needle, weave yarn horizontally through stitches at back of flower center and pull tight). In same stitch, chain 2, double crochet 2, slip stitch, slip stitch into next stitch. Repeat four times (for five petals). Fasten off, leaving long enough tail to sew onto blanket at any corner.

Ribbon

Weave ribbon alternately in and out through first round of V-stitches (above last row of single crochet. I began and ended where the flower was sewn. Tie a bow tightly. Finished. Enjoy!
