Gators made with Florida Gator colors
Needles: US size 7 double pointed needles
Cast on 4 stitches (on each needle - ignore the slip knot, that's to keep the yarn from unraveling) at the nose with a figure eight cast-on.

Knit 4 from needle one, tightening the tension as you go. Then knit 4 from needle two. Next, slip 4 from needle one tightening the stitches again, and then slip and tighten 2 from needle two onto the new needle two, and slip and tighten the last two onto the new needle three:

Row2 Knit front and back in the first st., K2, knit front and back in the last st. on needle one. Knit front and back in the first st., K1 on needle two. K1, knit front and back in the last st. on needle three.

Rows 3-4: Knit around (you should have 6 st on needle one - that is the bottom of the gator; and 3 each on needles two and three, or 6-3-3). Row 5 (start the nostrils) : K6 - K1,pickup and K1 from the st below st 2, K2 - K2, pickup and K1 from the st below the second st, K1 (6-4-4). Row 6 (finish the nostrils): K6 - K1, K2tog, K1 - K1, SSK, K1 (6-3-3)) Rows 7-9: K around.

Row 10 (start the jaw and eyes): K1, pickup and K1 from below the first st, K4, pickup and K1 from below the last st, K1 - K1, pickup and K1 from the 1st st, K1, pickup and K1 from the last st, K1 - K1, pickup and K1 from below the first st, K1, pickup and K1 from below the last st, K1 (8-5-5). Row 11: K around. Row 12 (continue the jaw): K1, pickup and K1 from below the first st, K6, pickup and K1 from below the last st, K1 - K1, pickup and K1 from below the first st, K4 - K4, pickup and K1 from below the last st, K1 (10-6-6).

Row 13: K around (10-6-6) Row 14: SSK, K6, K2tog - SSK, K1, K2tog, K1 - K1, SSK, K1, K2tog (8-4-4) Row 15: SSK, K4, K2tog - SSK, K2 - K2, K2tog (6-3-3)

Rows 16-17: K around (6-3-3) Row 18 - cut the green yarn, and knit one round with sweater color one (l'm doing red, white & blue because I didn't bring orange for a Florida Gator (that's an american football team). Row 19: Purl in front and back of 1st st, P4, P in front and back of last st - Purl in front and back of 1st st, P1, P in front and back of last st - Purl in front and back of 1st st, P1, P in front and back of last st (8-5-5) Row 20: K around (8-5-5) Row 21: P in front and back of 1st st, P6, P in front and back of last st - Purl in front and back of 1st st, P4 - Purl in front and back of 1st st, P4 (10-6-6) Row 22: K around Row 23: P around Embroider eyes

Row 24: cut red yarn, attach white yarn, K around Row 25:P around Row 26: K around Row 27: P around Row 28: K around Row 29: P around Row 30: cut white yarn, attach blue yarn, K around Row31:P around Row 32: K around Row 33:P around Row 34: K around Row 35:P around Row 36: cut blue yarn, attach red yarn, K around Row 37: P around Row 38: K around Row 39: P around Row 40: K around Row 41: P10 - P2tog, P4 - P4, slip 2 purl-wise then slip them straight back and purl together (the purl version of SSK). Row 59: K2tog, SSK - K2tog & SSK from needle three (2-2) Rows 60-61 K around sew the remaining sts together.






Toes
Using a US size F crochet hook, make a slip knot, chain 4, and slip stitch in the first ch. Ch5, sl st in 1st ch. Ch5, sl st in 1st ch. Put the loop on needle one, pull up three more loops through the base of the toes putting one on needle one and the other two on needle two. Turn the toes and pull up three loops and put them on needle three. Knit around four rows. For the front legs, change to the sweater color that you want on the sleeves and K around. P around. K around. P around. Pass a piece of yarn through the stitches. Maketwo For the back legs, continue knitting another 3 rows with green. Maketwo.
