Black Tourmaline Caitlin ffrench This hat came about from adventure. I was out a few hours from home with a friend of mine and we drove past a yarn shop (Valley Yarn) I had never been in. I yelled “stop the van!!!" and he didVery much thankfully as I probably would have rolled out on my own. I had the idea for this hat in my head for a while and just wanted it to be simple and black. I picked up the yarn and needles and cast it on immediately! The photos came about in the same sort of way. My friend Amanda (Brutally Beautiful Photography) called me up a few days after the hat was knit up and asked if I wanted to go adventure in the forestAnd to photograph any knits I had that weren't published yet. The day was super foggy, but the sun was about to break throughWe had to hurry to chase the fog up the mountain. Thankfully we hit the fog at the perfect time. Yarn: Malabrigo Chunky in Black (104 yds/95 meters- 100g) I used 77g (81 yds/74 meters) Needles: 8mm needles- you're working in the round so you'll need either 16" circulars, DPN's, or a long circular needle for the magic loop method Gauge: 12 stitches and 18 rows in stockinette stitch Finished Size: 10" from cast on to cast off

Page 2 Cast on 60 stitches and join for working in the round. Place a marker if you wish. Work in a 1X1 rib for 30 rounds. (This means you \*K1, P1.
