Peerie Pin Cushion by Knitti Politi

A little pin cushion with a traditional Fair Isle look. Great for using leftover oddments of fingering weight yarn. Worked in the round, stuffed and then sewn up at each end. Skills required: stranded colourwork, colour chart reading, working a small piece in the round on double-pointed needles (or magic loop if preferred), seaming.

SUPERFINE Fingering weight yarn Jamieson & Smith 2 ply Jumper Weight. Approximately 3 grams of each colour.

Colours

Yellow: shade 121 Dark blue: shade 366 Turquoise blue: shade 14 Natural: shade 202 Light pink: shade FC50 Dark pink: shade FC22 Red: shade 93

Needles/Supplies

2.75 mm (US 2). Set of 5 double-pointed needles, or a longer length circular needle if you prefer working the magic loop method (instructions are for double-pointed needles). 1 stitch marker Tapestry needle for sewing up. Fibrefill for stuffing.

Gauge

8 sts and 9 rows in 2.5 x 2.5 cm (1 x 1 inches) in colourwork pattern using 2.75mm (US 2) needles (or size needed to obtain gauge). Finished Size: 9 x 9 cm (3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches).

Instructions

Cast on 48 sts. Divide the stitches equally over the needles (12 on each needl Join to work in the round. Place marker, to mark the start of the round. Work the chart below, knitting every round. There are two repeats (in total) of the chart for each round.

Bind off all sts. Weave in ends. Sew up the top, stuff the cushion, then sew up the bottom.
