You'll need Dk yarn 100g will be enough for the adult beanie. 5mm & 4.5mm or 4.5mm & 4mm hook Tapestry needle, Tape measure This beanie is started using a basic treble crochet crown so can be easily adapted to any size needed I will include two website links which have detailed head measurements from premmie baby to adult in the pattern notes. This pattern is written in UK terms. Ch=chain, St('s)= Stitch(es) Dc=Double crochet(US Single), Tr=Treble crochet(Us Double crochet) \*=Start of pattern repeat. Rep=Repeat, SK=Skip, SI-st=Slip stitch. Shell=(2tr,ch1,2tr) This beanie is started using the basic treble crochet crown for which ever size you make. Each round begins with a ch3 join into top of ch3 to close each round. If your a lose crocheter try using smaller hooks Using the larger hook make magic loop ch3 and work 12tr's into ring join = 12tr's 1 Ch3, 1tr into same st, 2tr into each st around, join =24tr's 2 ch3, 2tr into next st, \*1tr into next st, 2tr into next st, repeat from \* around, join =36tr's 3 Ch3, 1tr into next st, 2tr into next st, \*1tr into next 2 st's, 2tr into next st, repeat around, join =48tr's 4 Ch3, 1tr into next 2 sts, 2tr into next st, \*1tr into next 3sts, 2trs into next st, Rep from \* around,
join=60trs
5 Ch3, 1 tr into next 3sts, 2trs into next st, \*1tr into next 4sts, 2trs into next st, Rep from \* around join=72trs Keep increasing this way until you have the size crown you need then move onto the shell rounds.
Shell rounds
1 Ch3(1tr,ch1,2tr) all worked into the same st as Ch3, Sk 3sts, \*work (2tr,ch1,2tr) all into next st, sk 3sts Rep from \* to end join 2 Sl-st across to next ch1 space, (ch3,1tr,ch1,2tr) into ch1 space, sk 4tr's \*work shell into next ch1 sp. sk 4tr's Rep around join Repeat last round until you have worked enough rounds for your beanie leaving 1.5cm to work a brim.
Brim
Using smaller hook, Ch1 work 1dc into each tr and ch1 sp around join. Work 3 more rounds in this way then fasten off and weave in ends.
