Care: Gently hand wash with cool water and mild soap. Wash similar colors separately. Dry flat, do not sun dry, soak, spin, or tumble. Can be Dry-Cleaned. Gauge: 16 sts and 20 rows = 4 inches in 4x4 basket weave stitch with size 10 needles. Size of Finished Hat and Scarf: Circumference of hat edge is about 17-18 inches, easily stretches to 21 inches. Scarf is 37 inches long and 5 inches wide. Width at garter stitch ends is 6 inches. Pattern Description: Stretchy garter stitch edges lead to a 4x4 basketweave body in both the hat and scarf. The crown of the hat is finished in garter stitch and topped with a small pom-pom. Yarn is very stretchy, so hat edge is knitted in needles one size smaller than hat body to assure a good fit over time. Scarf is knitted in two halves and then sewn together at the neck to assure the garter stitch edges are perfectly symmetrical in appearance.
