Mock Wave Cable Dress

By Melanie Lok Size: 2 years old Finished Chest - 2l inches Finished Length - 16 inches Yarn weight: category 4 aran Needle size: 6US, 7US circular needles, 7US DPN Last updated: 05/16/2011 Notes: This skirt is knitted in the round from bottom up and the bodice is knitted flat.Collar band is knitted in the round and the sleeve band is knitted in the round and the ruffle is knitted flat. The dress was knitted in two colors.

SKIRT (Knit in the round)

With 7 US circular needle, cast on 204 sts in Main Color (MC). Join. Be careful not to twist sts on needle. Place marker for beginning of round. Round 1-3:\*[p2, k2, p2]; repeat from \* to end of round Round 4: \*[p2, skip l st and knit the second stitch with the skipped stitch in back, leaving it on the needle; then knit the skipped stitch and slide both stitches from the needle together; p2]; repeat from \* to end of round Round 8: \*[p2, skip 1 st and knit the second stitch with the skipped stitch in front, leaving it on the needle; then knit the skipped stitch and slide both stitches from the needle together; p2]; repeat from \* to end of round Repeat rounds 1-8 once more in MC. Continue to repeat rounds 1-8 alternating between MC and Contrast Color (CC) every 4 rows until piece is ll inches. End in MC.

BODICE

Band Round 1: in CC, knit while evenly decrease 80 stitches - 124 sts. Rounds 2-4: work in lxl rib Divide for Front and Back Bodice Row 1 (RS): Change to size US6 needles.In MC, K62 for the back and place remaining 62 sts on a holder forfront. Back Bodice (knit flat) Shape Armhole Next row (WS): Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows - 52 sts. Work in stockinette.Decrease l st each side on next row, then every other row 3 more times - 4 4 st s Continue until armholes measures 3-l/2 inches. Shape Back Neck

FINISHING

Using Three Needle Bind-off, Seam together the front and back shoulder. Pick up 14 sts from front to back (8 sts up to seam,6 sts down to back).Work 1 round in lxl rib. Change needles to US 7. Bind off. Right Ruffle In CC, pick up 36 sts on 4 US 7 DPNs starting at mid-back: 7 sts from mid-back to bottom seam, 7 sts from bottom seam to mid front, ll sts from mid-front to top seam, 1l sts from top seam to mid-back. Join. Round l: work in lxl rib Round 2: bind off 14 sts,then work remaining sts in lxl rib. Rest of ruffle will be worked flat.
