by Erika Westerop - Cello Knits @ 2012 Materials: 160 gram Donegal aran tweed purple (or any aran weight yarn) I pair of knitting needles 6 mm (crochet needle 6 mm) cable needle tapestry needle & scrap yarn

Abbreviations: sts = stitches Cast on 72 sts with the (crochet) provisional cast-on\*\* method and needles 6 mm (the provisional cast-on exposes live sts so in the end you can finish with the kitchener stitch for a seamless cowl). Purl one row. C4F = Cable four front. Slip two sts from left needle onto cable needle. Move cable needle to front of work. Knit next two sts from left needle. Knit the two sts off the cable needle. Start pattern below. 1. \* C4F, C4B \* - repeat \* - \* to end of row. 2. purl all sts 3. knit all sts 4. purl all sts 5. \* C4B, C4F \* - repeat \* - \* to end of row. 6. purl all sts 7. knit all sts 8. purl all sts C4B = Cable four back. Slip two sts from left needle onto cable needle. Move cable needle to back of work. Knit next two sts from left needle. Knit the two sts off the cable needle. stst = stocking stitch Repeat rows 1-8 until work measures 60 cm. End on a row 7. Gauge: 10 x10 cm (4 x 4 inch) = 14 sts x 17 rows in stst Leave the sts on the needle. Pick up the cast-on sts on another needle and finish with the kitchener stitch\*\* for a seamless cowl. Note: you can size the pattern up or down by casting on 8 sts more or less. Sew in loose ends. \*\* you can find several tutorials on internet (wwwyoutube.com)
