Pick up and knit 37 sts along straight edge of flap. Row 1 (WS): K7, \*p1, k1, p1, k7; rep from \* across. Row 2: P7, \*k1, p1, k1, p7; rep from \* across. Row 3: same as row 1. Row 4: P7, \*cable, p7; rep from \* across. Repeat rows 1-4 until purse measures 20" from picked up stitches. Bind off. Sew buttons randomly through center of several cables. Sew sides of purse tog and line as desired. Attach magnetic snap to purse front and flap.
HEARTAPPLIQUE
(to cover magnetic snap) Cast on 3 sts. Row 1: Purl Row 2: K1, m1, k1, m1, k1. Row 3: Purl. Row 4: K2, m1, k1, m1, k2. Row 5: Purl. Row 6: K3, bind off next stitch, knit to the end of row. Row 7: P3, turn. Sl1, k2tog, psso. Cut yarn. Rejoin yarn to remaining 3 sts. P3. Sl1, k2tog, psso Cut yarn. Sew heart over magnetic snap, using extra ends of yarn to stuff behind heart.
HANDLE
Cast on 7 sts. Work in stockinet until handle measures 36". Bind off. Sew grosgrain ribbon to WS of handle. Sew ends of handle to sides of purse. Tuck in corners of purse to form a flat bottom. Sew corners closed. Weave in all ends.
