ZEPHYR FINGERLESS MITTS (AND MITTEN OPTION)
By RiverPoet Designs / Tracey Grzegorczyk

Supplies:
1 Skein Malabrigo Chunky yarn (100gm, 104 yds) 1 set US 8 dpns (or size to obtain gauge) Cable needle Tapestry needle and waste yarn 2 stitch markers Crochet hook for picking up stitches (if desired)
Gauge:
$4\;\%$ st. and 7 rows $=1^{\mathfrak{s}}$ in Stockinette stitch, in the round, on size 8 needles.
Abbreviations:
$k={\mathsf{k n i t}}$ $p=p u r$ kfb $=$ knit into front and back of one stitch, creating two from one $k2\mathrm{tog}=\mathsf{k n i t}\,2$ stitches together sl $\upharpoonleft$ slip one stitch purl-wise sm $=$ slip marker C3L $=$ cable 3 left: slip next stitch to cable needle; hold to front. Knit the next two stitches from the left needle, then the stitch from the cable needle. CLR $=$ cable 3 right: slip next two stitches to cable needle; hold to back. Knit the next stitch from the left needle, then the two from the cable needle. M1R $=$ make 1 right: using left needle, lit the bar between the stitch on the left needle and the right from back to front. Knit through the front of the lifted stitch. M1L $=$ make 1 left: using left needle, lift the bar between the stitch on the left needle and the right from front to back. Knit through the back of the lifted stitch.
A note on sizing...
At gauge, the adult M/L mitts/mittens are 3.5" across the palm, above the thumb, unblocked and unstretched. The S/M size is $3^{\ast}$ across. For looser mitts, you can go up a needle size or two.

Fingerless Mitts vs. Mittens: Instructions are given for both fingerless mitts, and full mittens. It is possible to get one pair of mittens of either size out of one skein of Malabrigo Chunky, at gauge. You may want to have another skein in reserve if you decide to do the full mittens and use a bigger needle, or get fewer stitches per inch than the stated gauge when swatching.
