NECKLACE COWL
By Hennihark For personal use only This pattern is my first written pattern, and even though i tried to make it informative and clear enough, it's not very thorough. But the cowl itself is quite simple to make anyway. If you are interested or in need of better instructions than I have given here, please contact me through Ravelry, I'm happy to help. And, If you make this cowl, I'd love to see the result! You'll need - about 150g worsted weight yarn (l used 130g Heaven's Hand Silke, colour Lejongul ) - 5 mm needles, or the size that gets you the right gauge. - two small buttons (about 1 cm in diameter) - thread and needle for sewing the buttons Gauge: 20sts x 20 rows. CO 56 sts. Row 1 (right side) : Start to knit in pattern (see the pattern chart) The pattern is 18 sts wide, Repeat it three times and then knit 2 first stitches of the pattern once more, to make the pattern symmetrical. (18+18+18+2 sts = 56 sts.) Continue knitting in pattern. Always lift the first stitch without knitting it. I didn't make buttonholes, just buttoned the cowl through the fabric. If you'd like to make buttonholes, just make them in the places shown in the illustration. Continue knitting in pattern until work measures approximately 110 cm ( try it on to see how it fits: the work is long enough when you are able to wrap the cowl the way shown in photos and comfortably overlap the ends as shown.) Bind off. When finished, block the work. Sew the buttons in place. You could put them so that the ends of the cowl overlap completely (sew the button no 2 so that the distance from the lower corner is the same than the cowl's width, about 30 cm), or, as I did, to attach it lower ( sew the button no 2 so that the distance from the lower corner is about 20 cm), to get a bit of an asymmetrical cowl. Try it on and see what's best for you, before sewing the buttons.
