Worsted weight yarn: Pink, Green Poly-fill stuffing Bar Pin (if used as a brooch) Floral wire or Pipe Clean (Iif a stem is wanted)

Abbreviations: Pattern is in US Crochet Terms

ch: chain stitch st: stitch sc: single crochet hdc: half double crochet dc:doublecrochet tc: triple crochet (\*): when you see instructions written between parenthesis you will work these instructions as many times as the pattern tells you to. inc: single crochet increase dec: single crochet decrease slst: slip stitch FO: fasten off Petals (in pink yarn) Ch 52. Row 1: sc in second st from hook, (ch 1, sc in second st from hook) repeat until the end of the row. Ch 1, turn. (Fig. 1) Row 2: (hdc, ch 1, hdc, ch 1, hdc, ch 1, hdc, ch 1, hdc) in the first ch 1 space from row 1, slst in the next ch 1 space. (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc in the next ch 1 space, slst into the next ch 1 Space.) repeat one more time, to make the third petal. (tc, ch 1, tc, ch 1, tc, ch 1, tc, ch1, tc in the next ch 1 space, slst in the next ch 1 space.) repeat to the end of therow. Fasten off, leaving a tail long enough to sew the flower together and on to a pin if wanted. (Fig. 2) Leaf (in green yarn) Ch 6. Row 1: slst in the second ch from the hook, sc, hdc, dc, dc 4 times in the last st. Do not turn your work, instead continue working on the back side of your foundation chain. (Fig. 3) dc, hdc, sc, slst in first chain you already slst into. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing the leaf to the rose. (Fig. 4) Take your petals and roll them up with the smaller petals staying on the outside. Use your yarn end and pass it through the bottom of the roll several times, back and forth in different direction. Fasten off and weave in all yarn ends. (Figs. 5-6) The way you wrap the petals can change the look of the flower greatly. In Fig. 7 the blue flower has the curve of the petals going inwards. However, if you roll the petals with their natural curve facing outwards the petals try to flare out more like the pink flower.

This flower would look great with a stem made from floral wire or a pipe cleaner. It would also look awesome as a brooch or as part of a headband, necklace or decorative element to any other project. The possibilities are endless.
