Yarn: Red Heart Boutique Treasure. Pattern, as written with flower, uses exactly one skein (59 yds). This creates a loose beanie. For a slouchy beanie, more yarn will be needed. Different yarns could be substituted, but finished project size will vary depending on similarity in weight. Hat
1. With N hook and yarn, start with a magic circle of 8 sts (or preferred method for starting a circle of 8 sc sts). Place marker to keep track of beginning of round. 2. 2sc in each st to end of round (16sts) 3. \*ch 3, sk 1, sc\*, repeat to end of round. (8 spaces) 4. Ch 3, sc in first loop, ch 3, sc in same loop, ch 3, sc in next loop, \*ch 3, sc in next loop, ch 3, sc in same loop, ch 3, sc in next loop\*, repeat until 1 space remains, ch 3, sc in last space. (12 spaces) 5. \*ch 4, sc in next space, ch 4, sc in next space, ch 4, sc in same space\*, repeat to end of round. (18 spaces) 6. \*ch 4, sc in next space\*, repeat to end of round. 7-8. Repeat previous round. Note: for a slouchy beanie, add additional rounds. This will take more yarn then one skein. 9. \*ch 4, sc in next space\*, repeat until 1 space remains. Place marker before next st. This will be the new start of the round. 2sc in last space. 10. \*3sc in next space, 3sc in next space, 2sc in next space\*, repeat to end of round. (50sts) 11. \*sc2tog, sc 8\*, repeat to end of round. (45sts) 12. \*sc2tog, sc 13\*, repeat to end of round. (42sts). 13-14. Sc in each st to end of round. Finish off and weave in ends.
Flower
1. With N hook and yarn, start with a magic circle of 9 sts (or preferred method for starting a circle of 9 sc sts), sl st to join. (9sts) 2. \*ch 4, pull up a loop in the 2nd ch from the hook, pull up a loop in each of the next 2 chains, pull up a loop in next st on circle (5 loops on hook), YO and pull through all loops on hook, sl st in next st on circle\*, repeat to end of round. (5 petals) Finish off, leaving a tail for sewing to hat. Use a yarn needle or smaller hook to pull the yarn tail through the strands on the inside of the hat.
