The Cowl named by the Cathedral Sankt Michaelis, the short form is "Michel", in Hamburg (Germany).

The Cowl is devided into different coloured pattern sections which each are separated by slip stitches and knitted and purled rounds. At first the width is 85 cm and later 65 cm. The decrease are always in the first round of the pattern!

Gauge

22 sts = 10 cm 31 rows = 10 cm This Cowl was worked in Sulca Legato from Mirasol. The yardage is 250 m per 50 g. Used Needle size 3 mm / Us 2 2/1). Three different colours are needed: Colour A 16 g = 80 m (lilac) Colour B 28 g = 140 m (grey) Colour C 21 g = 105 m (twilight) The Cowl can also be worked with two or five colours. Blocks

The block pattern is a rotation of five rounds of purl and knit stitches.

Block 1: Purl stitches in Colour A

In Round 1 evenly distributes 14 sts decrease (p2tog). Now are 156 sts on the needle. Round 1 - 5 purl all sts

Block 2: Knit stitches in Colour B

Round 1 - 5 knit all sts Repeat block 1 twice more. Repeat block 2 once more. 25 or 27 Rounds totaly. Tip: Who would not like to see the curves of the previous colour B with the colour change in the first round with the block 1 knit 1 round in colour A before starting block 1. This is valid only for block 1 and there even with the 2nd and 3rd stripe!

The pattern combines knitted rounds and the change of purled and knitted stitches. The knitted and the purled stitches have to match. DONOT WORKLIKETHE MOSSSTITCH! ributes 20 sts decrease (k2tog). Now are 136 sts on the needl 1. Round \* p1, k1\* 2. Round knit all sts The rounds 1 and 2 never change. The decrease are only in round 1!! Repeat the rounds one - two 6 more times (= 14 rounds) Bind off loosely on right side. Bathe the cowl, block it damp and weave in the ends.
