mbellished Boot Guffs

Jnstructions
e boot cuffs to adorn your pretty ankles on a fall day They are made out of worsted weight yarn for the body and a sport yarn for the embellishment. I am using Knit Picks “Hollyberry” Wool of the Andes worsted weight, and Knit Picks \*Oyster Heather Wool of the Andes sport. My ankles are 10 inches in circumference-these will fit a 8.5-10 inch ankle. Gage is 4 stitches to an inch on a swatch.

One set of 5.0 mm double pointed knitting needles, a larger 6.5mm needle for binding off, and a 2.55mm crochet hook for the scallops.

Me e Pattern
1) Cast on 36 stitches on double pointed 5.0mm needles and join in the round. (you are casting on the body (red part) of the boot cuff, not the scallops--those are added afterward) 2) K2 P2 for 1.5 inches 3) Knit the next four rows 4) Bind off with a larger needle- I used a 6.5mm to bind off. This step is important for a stretch fit. 5) Using your sport yarn and a US 2.55mm crochet hook, repeat a (sl st, 4sc in next stitch) in each stitch until end. This means in the first stitch, you will do a sl st, then in the next stitch you will do 4 single crochet into the same stitch, and then repeat. When you make the last scallop slip st into the the top of the first slipped st you made to join the scallop edging together. Then cut your yarn, pull it through, and weave in ends. 6) You may need to block these in order to make them lay correctly. Mine were a little askew after crocheting the trim. 7) Wear! When you are done with the knitting part, your piece should look like this. We are now going to crochet into each stitch to make the scallops.

The arrows are pointing to the stitches. Tip: if you have a bigger ankle, just cast on 4 more stitches per inch. 11 inch ankle? Cast on 40 stitches. 12 inch ankle? Cast on 44 stitches!

How to Slip Stitch
To do a slip stitch (sl st) Insert hook though both loops of the stitch (A) draw a loop (B) (this is a yarn over on your crochet hook) then draw the yarn over through. (C)

How to do a SC
Insert hook under next stitch (A) Yarn over (B) Pull yarn over through the stitch to have two stitches on needle Yarn over again, and pull through both stitches (C) To make scallops, do A-C this four times in one stitch.

1) Any item you made from this pattern is yours and you may do with it what you wish (sale, gift, use as a tissue, whatever) You made it. I really hate patterns that say "for personal use only'. You spent time and money on yarn to make this, I won't tell you Want to do with it. 2) That being said, you may not promote this pattern as your own work, because I made it :) Have a great day!
