A knit cowl using sock-weight yarn by Gretchen Funk Yarn: Neighborhood Fiber Co. Studio Sock, 1 skein (400 yds, 113 g) Materials: 24- or 36-inch circular knitting needles, size US 5 (3.75 mm), tapestry needle, stitch marker Gauge: 16 stitches = 4 inches in lace pattern Dimensions: 55-inch circumference 6.5-inch width To knit: Using long-tail cast-on method, loosely cast on 224 stitches. Place marker and join in round, being careful not to twist stitches. Work charted pattern rows 1-7. At the end of row 7, move marker one to the left by removing the marker, purl 1, replace marker. Work row 8. Repeat rows 7 and 8, moving marker at the end of row 7 each time, until the cowl is 6.5 inches wide. or until you have just enough yarn to bind off. Bind off loosely after working row 7 the final time. You do not need to move the marker. Weave in ends and block gently.
