Free Crochet Pattern: Quick and Cozy One-Skein Cowl Using Bulky Yarn

Pattern illustration

While in my local Michaels store recently I happened to touch a skein of Loops & Threads Charisma and fell in love with its almost chenille-y softness. I bought 3 skeins and squirreled them away until a time when I'd be able to turn them into something gorgeous. I often find myself looking for "one skein" patterns so I thought I would write one of my own. elcome to substitute the Charisma for a skein of your favourite bulky (#5) yar This is a free pattern and is intended to remain as such. Please do not distribute this pattern as your own for free or for sale. You are welcome to sellfinished items made from this pattern. You'llonly need to know the following basic crochet terms: Chain (ch), Single crochet (sc), Double crochet (Dc), Half double crochet (Hdc), Skip a stitch (sk st) and slip stitch (ss). The first row of this cowl is worked into the back bumps of the foundation chain (turn chain over and work your first row stitches under just the loops that stick up. Youtube has lots of tutorials if you're still not sure where to put your hook). Working into the back bumps of the chain creates a nicer, finished edge on the bottom of your cowl. The first row is joined and the cowl is finished in joined rounds. Make sure you join your cowl with a slip stitch to the first stitch of the round and not the starting chain.
