Glaucus Shawl - Benjamin Krudwig
Glaucus was the name of Athena's owl in Greek mythology. This shawl emanates elegance, grace, and wisdom, qualities which Athena was known for. The shape is reminiscent of the textured wings of an owl. The shawl starts in a simple single crochet, then evolves into an undulating section, which blooms into a triple crochet fan-lace pattern, punctuated by rows of spike stitch. Though the pattern appears to be challenging, the repetition of motifs and combinations of simple stitches will make this shawl a new staple in your crochet repertoire. Yarn: One skein each of Anzula's Dreamy in Seaside (Color A) and Denim (Color B) Yardage: 385 yards per skein, 770 yards total (though I had plenty of Seaside (Color A) left Crochet Hook: size G Gauge: 20 st X 20 rows = 4" X 4" square Finished wingspan: Approximately 6o" tip to tip For stitch diagrams, refer to the last page.
