Rnd 1: With H hook and cornmeal color yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Slst to join. Ch1 turn (6 sc) Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. Slst to join. Ch1 turn (12 sc) Rnd 3: 2sc in each sc around. Slst to join. Ch1, turn. (24sc) Rnd 4: \*1sc in each of the next 3sc, 2sc in next sc, \* repeat from \* to \* around. Slst to join. Ch1, tun. (30sc) Rnd 5: (RS)1 sc in each of the next 3 sc, BS in next sc,\* 1 sc in each of the next 5 sc, BS in next sc\* Repeat from \* to \* 3 more times, 1 sc in each of the last 2 sc. Ch1, turn. (5sc) Row 13:Dec 1st 2 sc tog, BS in next sc,. Dec last 2sc tog. Ch1 turn (2sc + 1BS) Do not fasten off. Slst down left side of arm to rnd 10, Rest of arms Row 1: \*1sc in each of the next 5sc, 2sc in next sc, Bs in the next sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of the next 5sc, \* repeat from \* to \* around. Ch1 ,turn. (14sc + 1BS) Rows 2-13: Repeat rows 2 -13 of first arm. repeat these rows for all arms. After you have finished the 5th arm, do not fasten off, but work 1sc around entire outside of starfish. Slst to join. Fasten off and tie in ends.
TRIMS
Rnd 1: Attach coffee fleck to any sc on starfish. 1Sc in same st as joining. \*1sc in next sc, 1BS in next sc\* repeat from \* to \* all around starfish. Slst to join. Fasten off coffee fleck and reattach cornmeal. Rnd 2: 1sc in each st around entire starfish. Fasten off for first side of starfish, but leave attach when doing the second side of starfish. Then with cornmeal, and holding wrong sides together, sc together , stuffing as you go along. Fasten off and tie in all ends.
EYES
Rnd 1: With White and H hook, ch3, 2sc in 2nd ch from hook, 5sc in last ch. Now working on opposite side of ch, 1sc in next sc, 1sc in same st as beg. Slst to join. Rnd 2: 2sc in same st as joining, 2sc in next sc, 2sc in each of the next 5sc, 2sc in next 2sc. Slst to join. Fasten off leaving a tail to sew with. PUPILS Rnd 1: With black and H hook, ch2, 6sc in 2nd ch from hook. Slst to join. Fasten off leaving a tail to sew with. Attach black to front of whites. Sew eyes on as shown in pictures. Embroider a black mouth with your yarn needle and black yarn. If you are making this for a toy, just make it all yellow.
