Materials:
yArn:_One Ball of Red Heart Soft Sparkle Needles: Size 7 Us Circular Size 8 Us Circular Dpns size 5 (short ones) Tapestry Needle Stitch Markers
Stitches:
Drop Stitch = \*P2, allow next stitch (a knit) to drop off the left needle, and unravel it for 4 rows, so that there are 4 "ladder rungs" above it. Put your right needle into that stitch from front to back, and knit through that stitch. After you complete the stitch, you'll see that all of the "ladder rungs" are also caught up in the stitch, creating the scrunch\*, repeat between \*s to end of round.
Let's Get Started:
Cast On: 80 Stitches, Join in the round, careful to not Twist stitches. Brim: 1x1 Rib (K1,P1 around) for 1 V2 to 2 inches Body: Knit for desired length (this hat 3-4 inches) Pattern: Drop Stitch (See Above for pattern Description)
Crown:
Row 1-5: Knit Row 6: Knit 10 and PM, repeat around Row 7: \*k8, K2tog; repeat from \* around Row 8,10,12: Knit around Row 9: \*K6, K2tog; repeat from \* around Row 11: \* K4,K2tog; repeat from\* around Row 13: \* K2,K2tog; repeat from\* around Row 14: \* K1,K2tog; repeat from\* around
Finish:
When you have 6-9 stitches on needles, Cut yarn, leaving 12" tail. Place yarn on tapestry needle and thread stitches from dpns to cinch cap closed. Knot and weave in ends. I like to use the smaller dpns because they give a tighter cinch at the top. Your stitches are closer together and you get less spacing when decreasing (less ladders; spacing between stitches).
