Machine knitted lace shawl
Finished size: approx. 90 x 190 cm (35.5 x 75 inches)
You will need:
Yarn: approx. 90 - 120 grams (3.25 - 4.25 oz) overall at a yardage of 600 - 800 meters (656 - 875 yds) per 100 grams (3.5 oz) Please choose a yarn suitable for knitting at the highest possible tension = 10. Sample shawl knitted from Chart A: 100% wool 2/17, two strands held together (425 meters [465 yards] per 100 grams). Sample shawl knitted from Chart B: 67% Super Kid Mohair, 3% merino, 30% Polyamide, (1000 meters [1094 yards] per 100 grams), (LineaPiu Camelot). Beads No7 or Ne6 and Steel Crochet hook for adding beads (for Chart B Option) Standard bed machine (single bed 200 needle knitting machine) Construction note: This is a triangular shawl consisting of two identical triangular machine knit pieces grafted together. Interlacing: Manual (Hand manipulated) lace. Hand manipulated lace with added beads. Gauge/Tension: PL10 Standard single bed 200 needle knitting machine, class 5 (Toyota-858, Silver-280 (840), Brother - 868-894, Passap). Additional tools: 1, 2, and 3-prong transfer tools Tapestry needle for grafting 3.5 mm (US4/E) Crochet hook

Begin of work:
Bring 3 needles in working position, arranging needles into 2L and 1R (2 needles to the left from “Zero” and 1 needle to the right). Onto these 3 needles, cast on 3 sts in preferred method. Turn tension to 10, knit 2 rows, carriage to the right, turn row counter to 0” and work from chart, using the 1-prong transfer tool for increases at the edge. For your convenience, the sts in the charts are arranged as on the knitting machine.

Complete last row #189, carriage to the left, replace working yarn with waste yarn, leaving a long tail for grafting. With waste yarn, work 10 rows, then scrap off. Work the second half of the shawl the same way. Using the working yarn tail and a tapestry needle, graft the two pieces together in every other row, making sure to insert the tapestry needle around the legs of both selvedge sts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?=rwl9GPs1WAl Using a crochet hook, bind off all sts with as follows: [BO 1, chain 1] to end of row.
