Materials ( suggested onlypattern can be adjusted for any yarn or needle size): One skein Americo Pima Flamme or approx 600 yards of sport weight yarn with an interesting texture 5.5 (US9) 16" circular needle Wool needle Stitch marker Crochet hook and waste yarn (for provisional cast on) Gauge: 14sts= 4" This yarn is being knit very loose. If you are substituting yarn, feel free to up drastically in needle size. Measurements: Approx. 10 inches wide, 40" circumference "We can't return we can only look behind from where we came and go round and round and round in the circle game...", Joni Mitchell
Crochet provisional cast-on:
Using waste yarn that is smooth (such as mercerized cotton) and a crochet hook of similar gauge to suggested needle size, chain the same number as cast on stitches, plus a few extra. Break yarn and draw through final chain to close. Starting at the first chain, cast on with working yarn through the “purl bumps" of the chain. To make cast on stitches live, pull the yarn tail out from the last chain stitch, unravel and place each stitch on the needle as you pull out the crochet chain.
Instructions:
Cast on 70 stitches (OR desired width of cowl- remember that it is in the round) using provisional cast on. Place marker and join in round, being careful not to twist. Knit every round for approx. 40 inches OR desired circumference of cowl. Make cast on stitches live once again and graph last row to first row. Wet block to open up the loose stitches.
